Day 2

Day 2 of our trip was shopping day!

Lots of pictures follow!

We were able to hit Times Square, Rockefeller Center (for lunch), and Broadway. That night we went to see a show - Sister Act. It was so good! I wasn't sure that I would at all like a Broadway Show- or have the patience to sit through 2.5 hours of nothing but singing, but I enjoyed it so much! It will definitely be a must for us when we go back. I could not get any photos inside because they do not allow cameras, but I at least got one shot downtown at night. It really is a city that never sleeps!

This is the only picture that really needs explanation. While we were visiting, the Today Show was doing their  summer concert series. The guest for the week we were there was . . Justin Bie*er. This picture was on a Thursday at noon. These teenage girls and their mamas had been sitting/camping out since the previous Monday. I stopped and talked to one girl and her mama and they were so sweet! The mother just kept saying that it was a labor of love . . the things you do for your children! Anyway, we got the biggest kick out of them!

ChiTown

This is still part of the travel day (Day 1) of the trip.

We landed in NYC around noon and went strait to the hotel to drop our bags off. We couldn't get in because it wasn't quite time to check in, so we left our bags for safe keeping and went off to China Town! It was actually rainy and alittle cold this day! We took the subway, which is another one of my strong dislikes! Luckily this is the only time we had to ride it. We took a car the rest of the time we were there and it is SO WORTH the extra $.

Rainy China Town and Hotel Room (super nice by the way! I am a stickler for clean rooms.)

NYC-Leaving and Arriving

Last month my mom, me, grandma, aunt, SIL and great aunt embarked on a trip to NYC. We had the most amazing time! We have all been to the city before, at different times, but this was the first time we all went together and for the sheer purpose of shopping and doing anything touristy.

I HATE to fly. It involves so much of things that I fear (claustrophobia, heights, potential for lots of motion, no control) that I try to avoid it at all costs. We started talking about this trip over a year ago when I agreed to go - honestly never thinking it would come together and realizing that if it did I would have a whole year to get mentally prepared to fly. Well, the mentally prepared part never happened, but it wasn't that bad. I will tell you one thing . . an hour and a half trip beats the heck out of a 12 hour trip any day of the week. I am already looking forward to going back.

Here are a few pictures of day one traveling  . . .

This picture cracks me up every time I see it. My grandma takes homemade fudge EVERYWHERE. Literally in her pocket book at all times to give away to whoever she comes across that she feels needs it. This was a guy who worked in our hotel who loved to hear us talk and our southern hospitality thanks to Mama Gayle! I used to get embarrassed, but now it is just funny to me!

Long Update in Pics

Sometimes it is easier to update in photos! I am all about ease . .

A couple of weeks ago I read this article in our local paper. Cracks me up every time I re-read it!

Jason's birthday was May 19 and we celebrated by going with a group of friends to the AllStar Race. Typically we go every year. I missed last year, so this was my first race in about 2 years. It was a lot of fun! I got this shirt to wear and have worn it at least once a week at home ever since. It is so comfy!

Gracie desperately needed a haircut. She was beginning to look like a HOT mess! Anyway, this is her the day before . . cheerful and loving. Playing with her toys and acting normal.

This is what she is like after. She hides, acts like someone has hurt her feelings and plays with nothing. She was like this for DAYS this time. We had to make her eat and drink. Jason wants me to learn to cut her but there is just noway. She would act like this no matter whose job it was!

My cousin- first born to me- graduated this year!! Talk about feeling old! We went to his ceremony last week. We ended up sitting on the hill b/c it was hot and muggy and I didn't want to be in the big crowd. A week before the actual ceremony I sent him his card and $$. As I sat down to write in his card I ended up really over doing it. All these memories came back and I just wrote them as they came to me! I cried the whole time. Happy tears of course! Everyone got a kick out of it and he loved the card (probably the $$ more)

This very morning at work I had my first work related accident. I work in an office, so this is very hard to do- but I found a way. My big toe got caught under the commercial front door that we have as it was closing shut. Oh.my.word. I got hot flashes and began to limp.

Thankfully it was short lived!! I put some ice on it and it seems to be feeling better. All of the people in my office made fun. It hurt really bad :(

I ordered 2 books recently. One on the recommendation of another blogger and the other was due to an excerpt I read in a Christian magazine that just felt like it was written directly to me.

My habit is to start both books at once because I want to devour them as quickly as possible. I am not doing that this time. I started The Land In Between and am taking my time. I have just gotten through the first section and it has knocked my socks off. God is doing lots in our life right now. We are excited and embracing Him like never before.

Longest update in history and lots of pictures. Friday is just around the corner!
